Crayfish (Yabbies)

The Yabbie is a Native Freshwater Crayfish ...West of the Great Dividing Rage.
They grow up to a maximum size of 350 gram. The common large size is 120-150 gram. Yabbies live only 5 to 7 Years under ideal conditions and in the wild less expectancy due to Predators like fish, eels turtles, birds and water rats. They are harvested with baited Traps and returned to holding tanks for purging at least 3 days prior Sale to ensure their waste line is clean and clear.

Yabbies are highly prolific and they will breed, if conditions are right ... up to 3 Breedings per Season.
Conditions for best breeding are long hours of Daylight and warm Water. A Female Yabbie carries up to 300 Eggs per Breeding .... under the tail which takes about 6 weeks to hatch into tiny Baby Yabbies hanging under the Tail.
Breeders should be 50-100 mm head to tail the ideal Size for Restocking your Dams.
